The launch of the new Alienware ‘Epic’ laptop portfolio was a significant news event for the gaming world. The laptops were completely redesigned from the inside out with the the chasis moving from a retro roswell-esque sci-fi feel to a more futuristic stealth bomber approach. To support the launch of the new 14, 17 and 18 laptops, we created a mysterious teaser video, enticing product photography, an exciting interactive microsite, and bold marcom assets.
The alienware epic microsite opened with an animation of the three laptops landing on the page.
The design section allowed gamers to interact with all three laptops with 360 spins and hotspots.
In the command center was a carousel in which gamers could explore software goodies like the AlienFX-ebnabled games function which allows one to tailor the laptops lighting effects based on in-game events.
In this section the gamer was able to explore and play with the 10 independent lighting zones of the laptop.
On launch day we released the following video and photography which finally reveals the epic new design.
A few years prior in 2010 we launched the M11x, M14x, M17x & M18x with a slightly more aggressive approach targeted at the avid gamer. Enter the "PWN IT" campaign which promises gamers the edge they need to dominate, eliminate and frustrate opponents on every level imaginable.
